This is a carbon block cartridge with a 1 micron (nominal) rating.

It can be used as a stand-alone filtration medium, after a pre-filter (used to remove excess dirt); or before a ceramic filter (for ultra-fine filtration).

This cartridge is used to catch dirt, sediment, rust, silt; and adsorb chemicals for improved taste and odour.
