How to flush your new B.E.S.T. Inline

COMMISSIONING YOUR NEW B.E.S.T. INLINE UNIT (First Flush)

Every brand new filtration medium requires an initial flush sequence to remove any dust/ debris/excess matter from the manufacturing processes. The B.E.S.T. Inline is no different. When your B.E.S.T. Inline is brand new, inside the instruction leaflet included in the packaging, there is a section regarding doing the first flush in the Commissioning Instructions (or ‘Flushing/Priming Instructions’ in the Installation section in older packaging). This is required to gently remove all of the carbon dust that will be present from manufacturing. If this dust is not flushed out completely, it can cause reduced flow or blockage through the filter. Sometimes this issue doesn’t occur straight away, so it could be a slowed flow tomorrow, in a week or perhaps even in a month! Resetting your B.E.S.T. Inline will help remove this excess dust that has been caught in the filter membranes.

Here is a link to our commissioning video (available on our Youtube channel)

1. After un-packaging your new Inline, connect the supply hose (clean, town water pressure) from your tap to one end of the Inline.

2. Turn the water on a very small amount (about a 1/4 to a 1/2 turn of the tap), and when the water starts to come out of the other end of the inline - turn off the tap. (This water will be very BLACK, so don’t be alarmed!)

3. Turn the Inline around and connect the supply hose to the other end; and again, turn the water on a very small amount (about a 1/4 to a 1/2 turn of the tap), and when the water starts to come out of the other end of the inline - turn off the tap.

4. Repeat step 3 - but each time you turn the Inline around, turn the tap on a bit harder and let a bit more water through the filter each time.

5. You will repeat this action, increasing the pressure and volume of water through the Inline, until the water is running clear straight away from both ends, and you are getting a full flow through the unit. [Depending on your incoming water pressure, you can get around 15L/min from the B.E.S.T. Inline.

Please don’t rush this process and don’t jump straight to full pressure on the first turn of the Inline! If you push too much pressure through the unit on the first go, it will just force the carbon dust to compact onto the internal membranes, and you will get a reduced flow. Slow and steady wins the race.

• To help keep the membranes clear and to stop dirt compounding on one end, make sure you regularly back-flush your B.E.S.T. Inline. We personally do this every time we pack up – this way we know each end is nice and clean and ready for the next stop.

• We recommend keeping the B.E.S.T. Inline wet when not being used. This stops the carbon from drying out. (Dry particles can rub together and produce extra carbon dust.) Whether your filter will be sitting unused for 6 hours or 6 weeks - all you need to do is block off the ends (we use the short piece of hose that is used to connect the Inline to the tap). Your B.E.S.T. Inline then just stores away in your RV. No need to refrigerate the filter as the SilverSafe keeps it bacteria free. When you’re ready to go again, simply flush 1-2 litres through the unit from either end to freshen the carbon.
